New publication strengthens knowledge base on Early Childhood Care and Education personnel in Low- and Middle-Income Countries

This newly published volume of UNESCO’s Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) working paper series focuses on the needs and characteristics of pre-primary teachers and educators in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC).

This publication is a contribution to the recently-launched Survey of Teachers in Pre-primary Education (STEPP) Project. The project aims at strengthening the knowledge base on the training and working conditions, practices and needs of pre-primary teachers.

The volume examines the existing evidence on the impact of personnel characteristics on the quality of ECCE services and child outcomes, as well as training requirements, working conditions and the characteristics of settings of ECCE personnel in LMICs.
