Good Practice Review launch

Coinciding with the International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR2015) on 13th October 2015, Dr John Twigg launched his revised edition of the Good Practice Review (GPR) for Disaster Risk Reduction microsite, with the support of the Humanitarian Practice Network (HPN).

To celebrate the launch of the microsite, and to highlight some of the lessons learnt from the Nepal Earthquake of April 2015, the Humanitarian Practice Network at ODI hosted a discussion where Bruno Haghebaert, GNDR’s Learning Coordinator, who has been on the Steering Group for the GPR, spoke on the panel. With panels in both London and Kathmandu, speakers discussed the immediate response in Nepal as well as preparedness, conflict and governance.

The Humanitarian Practice Network also published a case study video drawing on the work that GNDR member, the National Society for Earthquake Technology (NSET), undertakes in Kathmandu. The video highlights a women’s group in Thankot, Nepal whose preparedness helped saved lives following the April 2015 Gorkha earthquake.
