Myanmar: Humanitarian funding analysis: Flooding in Myanmar, 5 August 2015

Key points

  • According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs ( OCHA ) ’s Financial Tracking Service (FTS), d onors have committed/contributed US $110.6 million of humanitarian assistance to the country since the start of 2015.

  • The UN - coordinated Myanmar 2015 response plan requests US$190 million from donors to assist crisis - affected people in the country. It is currently 3% funded at US$73.1 million. A further US$37.6 million has been committed or contributed outside of the appeal.

  • Japan is the top donor to Myanmar, contributing 6% of total current funding in 2015 (US$ 17.2 million).

  • A state of emergency has been declared in the four worse - affected regions : Rakhine State, Chin State, Magway Region and Sagaing Region.

  • While no funding has been reported in response to the flooding so far, the regions currently affected (listed above ) have received US$20.8 million in response to other crises in 2015, almost a fifth of total funding to Myanmar in this year.
